Next generation farmer Henry Spies wants to do more than just feed the community. He wants to inspire change in the world of animal agriculture. Join us on Wednesday, March 9, to learn about Marsh Creek Cattle & Company, the multi-species operation he runs with his brother, Austin, in Preston, MD. You’ll hear about how they’re getting new use out of existing commercial poultry houses on their farm, and their sustainable approach to land and resource management.

Henry and his brother, motivated by their farm-centered upbringing and 4-H experiences, raise pasture-based Black Angus beef, poultry, eggs, and pork. Committed to a business model that honors the seasons and gives them and their pastures time to rest, they raise most of their animals when the grass is growing, from early spring to mid-fall. They keep only cattle during the cold winter months. The brothers focus on building diversity and habitat to create a farm where multiple species can happily co-exist, and they measure success by the health of their soils.

In addition to selling cuts of meat at area farmers markets, Marsh Creek Cattle & Company offers membership opportunities which come with bi-weekly, doorstep deliveries, discounted pricing and premium selections. The operation is young and innovative. Henry and his brother see it as the future of agriculture. Join us March 9 to learn more!
